Happy Anniversary Fort Worth PMI!
Fort Worth PMI was chartered in 1992 and this year – 2022 – marks 30 years of service to the project management community! In celebration of this anniversary PMI created this special “30 YEARS” celebration logo for us.
As we go through this momentous year we will reach back into history to remember historical events and hear from some of our former Board Presidents. Be sure to visit back every month to journey back in time with us! Read more!
In August of 1992 the Mall of America opened in Bloomington, Minnesota. It had 330 stores and 10,000 employees. Think about the planning required for this massive project!

There are oceans of possibilities!
As, I was reviewing some Agile Transformation material today, I came across the topic of Fixed vs. Growth mindset. Per a Harvard Review article, “Someone with a growth mindset views intelligence, abilities, and talents as learnable and capable of improvement through effort. On the other hand, someone with a fixed mindset views those same traits as inherently stable and unchangeable over time.” We are in tumultuous times, and this is exactly what we need to live a fulfilling, solution-oriented life. So, I say, there are always oceans of possibilities – all you must do is just think!

Growing Tomorrow’s Leaders through Mentoring
As we approach spring here in the Fort Worth area, it is time to think about a fresh start in our Project Management careers. The Fort Worth PMI Chapter would like to suggest that one sure fire way to make improvements is to become a mentor or mentee.

PMI: Why Social Impact Matters
“Projects have the power to make a better world – to create new jobs; advance diversity, equality and inclusion; provide essential infrastructure; enhance education; improve public health and safety."
As part of PMI’s 50th Anniversary Celebration in 2019, PMI partnered with the United Nations to identify 17 Sustainable Development Goals. From the PMI website, “The UN's Sustainable Development Goals are the blueprint to achieve a better and more sustainable future for all. They address the global challenges we face, including those related to poverty, inequality, climate, environmental degradation, prosperity, and peace and justice.”

Volunteers are our life blood...
PMI is, was, and always will be about volunteers. Founded in 1969 by five volunteers who sought to standardize and promote the project management profession, PMI’s volunteer force, greater than 10,000 strong, is larger than many other professional membership associations. Volunteerism is so important to PMI that it is a Core Value of the organization. When you volunteer, you not only enrich your membership experience and earn PDUs, you expand your professional network, improve your knowledge, and hone your leadership skills. Volunteerism is also a strategic goal for the Ft. Worth Chapter. The goal intends to strengthen the execution of the existing volunteer model to provide mutual benefit to both members and the chapter: Volunteer Engagement includes:
