kiimAs summer winds down and school buses start rolling again, August quietly signals a season of new beginnings. Whether you’re packing lunchboxes or reorganizing your project backlog, this month reminds us—in both education and in project management—that preparation and intention propel us forward.

Closer to home, there’s so much happening for Fort Worth professionals. With kids returning to school and routines refocusing, now is the perfect moment for us as PM practitioners to reflect on our own structures. In much the same way an academic calendar helps shape learning strides, our chapter’s roadmap for the second half of 2025 deserves a fresh look and renewed energy.

Across the region, we’re seeing dates drop and registrations open for exciting new training opportunities—and Fort Worth is no different. In just a few weeks, we’ll be launching early bird registration for our highly anticipated Professional Development Conference (PDC) on October 10th, held this year in North Richland Hills. Make sure to mark your calendars and keep a close eye on our social channels for event links when they go live—this is one you won’t want to miss.

I’m especially excited to invite you to our VIP Appreciation Evening October 9th. This reception is our way of saying thank you—to our speakers, event volunteers, board members, and members who continuously step up to show support. Think of it as a project retrospective with heart, an opportunity to highlight some amazing individuals and a chance to have a lot of fun. Seating will be limited and free with registration, so be ready to reserve your spot when links are released.

Looking forward…

This month we’ll be hosting our Annual Business Meeting at BNSF on August 21st. This important gathering is where we review the results of our recent member survey, provide updates on the state of the chapter, and proudly announce the recipients of both our educational scholarships and our 2025 board elections. We’ll also be joined by Melissa Bennett, our PMI Chapter Engagement Specialist, who will share insights and updates on what’s happening across PMI at a strategic level.

As always, thank you for being part of our vibrant community. Whether you’re stepping into a new school year with your family, gearing up for Q4 planning, or exploring new ways to volunteer, know that your presence, insight, and energy make our chapter stronger.

And with that I will add my favorite quote from James Clear, “Greed is wanting the benefits of community without contributing to it,” so thank you all for your contribution to the community.

Warmly,

Kimberly Collins, PMP, CSM, PMO-CP
President, FWPMI
